The traditional location of Mt. Nebo is a hill in modern-day Jordan that overlooks the Dead Sea, Jordan River Valley and the distant hills of the Judean Mountains. Moses came to this location for a view of the Promised Land before his death. Dust from the Jordanian deserts and evaporation from the Dead Sea create a constant haze in this region. After a rare rainstorm, the view is significantly better. It rains about two inches a year in this region, all of it in the winter months.
