This is one of a series of maps that will follow Paul's missionary journeys. The church in Antioch of Syria (there are two cities named Antioch in the New Testament, and there were 16 cities by that name in the Roman Empire) commissioned Paul and his companions to share the Gospel with people to their west. The missionary journeys were wildly successful and compose some of the most engaging historical accounts in the Bible. Barnabas was from Cyprus (Acts 4:36), so perhaps that's why he and Paul began their journey by heading there.
