Mt. Hermon loop from Golan Heights

At 9,232 feet (2,814 m) above sea level, Mt. Hermon is by far the tallest mountain in Israel. David sang of its beauty and on clear days, Jesus could have seen it from the Galilee. Jesus also traveled to Caesarea Philippi (Matthew 16:13), which lies at the base of Hermon. Almost certainly, the Transfiguration event took place on one of the peaks of the mountain, since Jesus returned to Caesarea Philippi after taking three disciples with him up a “high mountain” (Matthew 17:1). There is no other mountain within a short distance of Caesarea Philippi.
