Hezekiah's Tunnel location

When Hezekiah was king, the Assyrians nearly destroyed the Jewish nation. They had already defeated the northern kingdom (Israel), and had taken much of the southern kingdom (Judea). Hezekiah knew Jerusalem was in trouble and he set about preparing the city for a siege. The most important thing to do was to protect Jerusalem’s water supply. To that end, he diverted the Gihon Spring underneath the walled portion of the city. In one move, he kept the Assyrians from accessing the water, and ensured his people would have all they needed. The tunnel and its water run beneath what is called the City of David archaeological park today. It ends at the Pool of Siloam, which has been discovered in recent years. The Assyrians did set siege to Jerusalem, but thanks to Hezekiah’s work, Isaiah’s faithful prayers, and supernatural intervention from God (2 Chronicles 32:20-21), Jerusalem survived and the Assyrians fled, never to return.
