The prophets Elijah and Elisha spent much of their ministries in the Jezreel and Jordan River valleys. Jesus spent time there, too, and some of his miracles mirrored things the two Old Testament prophets had done. For instance, Elijah and Elisha both had raised the sons of heartbroken widows. Jesus did the same thing in Nain, not far from Shunem. At Elisha's instruction, Naaman the Syrian commander washed in the Jordan River, causing his leprosy to disappear. Jesus healed 10 lepers in the same region, though we don't know the exact location.
