Sorek Valley 1
The Sorek Valley provided a fairly straight shot from Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the Judean Mountains to the coastal plain. Kings of Judah (like Hezekiah) fought hard to keep enemies from approaching Jerusalem on this route. Samson grew up in the Sorek Valley. People approaching Jerusalem from the west would have understood the phrase of going “up to Jerusalem.”
