Jerusalem during the time of David

The Jerusalem David knew was tiny in comparison to today's Old City, just as the Old City today is nearly dwarfed by the modern city. David's Jerusalem was perched on a hill between the Kidron Valley (on the right in this illustration) and the Tyropoeon Valley (also called the Central Valley). This illustration views the city from the south. The hill to the north will become the Temple Mount under Solomon's leadership.
