Located in the center of Samaria, the modern-day city of Nablus is rich with biblical history. Abraham, Jacob and Joshua all new the ancient city of Shechem. The ruins of Shechem are in the heart of Nablus. Jacob's Well is here, too. Joseph was buried here. Joshua took the Israelites here to renew the covenant. Half of the people stood on the slopes of Mt. Gerizim (on the left in the fly-through), while half stood on the slopes of Mt. Ebal. Rehoboam escaped from Shechem just as his reign as Solomon's successor began. Jesus came to Sychar to meet a woman at the well, apparently on the outskirts of Shechem.
