After his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus was taken first to the home of Annas, and then tried before Caiaphas. A church between the Zion Gate of today’s Old City and the Hinnom Valley has been built over some first-century ruins that are, by tradition, the location where Jesus was held before his trial. Though this exact location and ruins are disputed, Jesus would have indeed been held in this general area, and photos from the church can be helpful in illustrating the narrative.
