Sheep and Goats Wadi Qelt

One of the most beloved images from Scripture is that of a shepherd with his or her sheep. Goats were also a common part of flocks. Sheep and goats knew the voice of their shepherds and followed them faithfully. Both animals were prone to find trouble. Goats sometimes intentionally left the flock while sheep tended to wander away unintentionally. This made both animals an ideal illustration for the prophets of old and Jesus as he taught in the Galilee. David’s most famous psalm reflected on his days as a shepherd in Bethlehem.
