Hazor Joshua era burned stones 5

Perfectly positioned in the Hula Valley, Hazor guarded the intercontinental highway connecting Asia and Africa. Not surprisingly, the city was very powerful, wealthy, and coveted by every world power. When Joshua became a threat in the southern half of Canaan, the king of Hazor organized a fighting force to attack the Israelites. Joshua marched through the night, surprised the northern coalition and defeated it (Joshua 11:1-5). Joshua went further, burning Hazor (11:10-13). In excavations, archaeologists found clear signs of a row of stones that had been burned during the time period of this event. Hazor was destroyed during the Assyrian invasion that decimated the northern kingdom of Israel.
