Hebron scenes

Hebron plays an important role early in the biblical record. Jerusalem and Bethlehem lay about one day’s journey to the north of Hebron. Beersheba was another day’s journey to the south. Abraham and Sarah lived in the city for a season, and both were buried there. Abraham and Isaac would have traveled through Hebron on their way to Mt. Moriah, where they both passed the difficult test God had given Abraham. Caleb, who had spied out the land, made Hebron his personal claim in the Promised Land. David was first made king in Hebron, where he ruled over Judea.
