Jesus based his ministry in Capernaum after he was rejected in Nazareth. This video shows the traditional location of where the people of Nazareth threatened to throw Jesus off a cliff. Nazareth sits on a plateau above the Jezreel Valley. This cliff is the most dramatic option for the distressing event. Jesus left Nazareth, apparently never to return. He would have had multiple options for how to get to Capernaum. This clips shows what might be the most direct route, through the twin cliffs of Mt. Arbel. Magdala (unseen in this video) sits at the base of Mt. Arbel on the Sea of Galilee. Capernaum is on the northern shoreline of the lake. By way of the “Jesus Trail” today, the hike from Nazareth to Capernaum covers 40 miles (65 km).
