How does BibleStock work?
BibleStock is designed with the Bible teacher in mind. Just enter the scripture passage from your next sermon, Bible study, or classroom lecture into the search box. You’ll see one or more options pop up below your search. Click on the one that best matches your search. You can also search by location or keyword, but you’ll find the best matches from Scripture searches. You can choose from all of the results, just the videos, just the photos, or just the illustrations. Browse through your search results. If you find a video you’d like to use, click on the download button. At that point, the video or photograph will download to your computer or other device. From there, just drop the video or photograph into your presentation software and you’ll be ready to use an amazing visual resource with your audience. Watch BibleStock 101 to discover more.
What about the illustrations?
We’ve partnered with archaeologyillustrated.com so you can see a sampling of images from artist Balage Balogh. You can’t download the illustrations directly from BibleStock, but they’ll help you visualize biblical sites in ancient times, and determine how to best use our visual resources from modern times. If you click on the link we’ve provided, you’ll be redirected to archaeologyillustrated.com, where you’ll have an opportunity to purchase the illustration.
Which subscription package do I need?
An individual membership may be all you need. With all of our subscription options, you can discover our resources and download them to your own computer or personal device. You can take advantage of all of our tutorial and coaching videos, and request a video. If you want more than one membership, you’ll find discounts for multiple members. This would be ideal for a pastor who wants to quickly share resources with a media assistant, for instance. Some ministries may want multiple pastors and small-group leaders to have access to BibleStock. We have discounted annual rates for three, five and 10 people on the same account.
How can I use the videos and photographs?
You can use the visual resources any way you like. However, you cannot share the videos with non-subscribers or sell the videos as they are, or in an edited format. An individual membership means only one individual can use these resources. If you subscribe to a package, only the individuals subscribing can use the videos. You are strongly encouraged to use these resources in your preaching/teaching ministry. You are welcome to broadcast them on television or via live-streaming. Be sure to read the complete Terms of Service.
Will you be adding videos to BibleStock?
Absolutely! As a subscriber, you’re helping us create financial resources that will allow us to continually add great video from Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Greece, Italy and other lands of the Bible. So thanks for being our partner in this venture!
How do I put videos in “presentation software?”
This is one area where you’ll need to do a bit of learning on your own. Software like PowerPoint, Keynote, and ProPresenter are all user friendly. One way to learn is to simply open up the program and experiment with it. There are countless tutorial videos available on YouTube to help you get started. You’ll get some practical help from one of our tutorial videos, How to maximize BibleStock. More than likely, there are many people around you who will be happy to help you. Most people can become quite proficient with PowerPoint or Keynote in a matter of minutes.
Where is my downloaded video or photograph?
When you click on the download button of a photo or video clip, you’ll see the file being prepared, and downloaded. It is now stored on your personal computer. But where? First, check your Downloads folder. If not there, look inside folders named Movies or Photos. If you still can’t find your downloaded video, search for the name of the video on your computer.
Why isn’t there sound with the video clips?
Almost all of the videos you’ll find on BibleStock don’t have sound. That’s because these videos are designed to be background support for your teaching. If you’re a pastor, small-group leader or classroom teacher, just keep teaching while the video plays in support of your topic.
What should I say about a video while it’s playing for my audience?
We want you to maximize these resources in your teaching ministry, which is why we’ve included a short description with each video or photograph. This should be enough information to help you get started. Study Bibles are another great source of information about biblical locations. Searching the Internet for information about a biblical site will yield even more information. With a bit of practice, you’ll soon discover several trustworthy sources. One of our favorites is bibleplaces.com. When you’re using the video in a sermon or Bible study, just keep teaching. There’s no need to point out that you’re playing a video. People are used to seeing visual support when listening to other speakers, and they’ll be pleased to find that their favorite Bible teacher is using video from the lands of the Bible.
Is this really worth all the trouble?
Try playing one video for your audience and you’ll immediately discover the answer to this question. Only a tiny fraction of church attenders will ever make it to Israel for a biblical study tour. They’ll soak in every detail of any video you show them while you’re teaching or preaching. This is also when they will be listening most intently. With practice, you’ll be able to capitalize on that moment of intensified focus from your audience, thus improving your communication skills. If you begin using these visual tools on a regular basis, you’ll probably gain a reputation in your community that will draw more people to your teaching ministry. By researching geographic locations, you’ll learn new insights about even the most familiar Bible passages. Best of all, when people see a biblical site, they can’t deny that it exists. To the skeptic in your audience, biblical geography and archaeological findings will drive home the fact that the Bible is a reliable source of historical truth. If you’ve not done so already, be sure to watch our founder’s message, Why is this important?
