Mt. of Beatitudes and fertile farmland

The Sermon on the Mount includes some of the most well-known teachings in all the world. From the Beatitudes to the Golden Rule, the things Jesus said in Matthew 5-7 have provided life-changing teachings for people around the world for the past 2,000 years. The traditional location for the “sermon” is on the slopes of the hills northeast of Capernaum, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. In reality, it’s likely Matthew grouped things Jesus often said into a single collection of his teachings. No doubt, some of that teaching came on the grassy slopes of these hills. Some came to synagogues in this region. By using a broad brush with this drone footage to show the general area of the teaching, you can give an accurate location of where Jesus taught without pointing to a particular place where the disciples set up a pulpit and staged lighting. Note the fertile farmland around this setting, too. Parables like “The Sower” and events like, calling the disciples away from their fishing nets, gain new light with these images.
