This footage of the Jordan River is at the traditional location of where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. This is also the same general area where Joshua crossed over the Jordan into the Promised Land, and where Elijah and Elisha crossed over on the last day of Elijah’s life. The water of the river is noticeably muddy and shallow. These days, the river is never allowed to flood. Irrigation to the north keeps the water flow at a minimum by the time it reaches Jericho and the Dead Sea. Farm run-off adds to the polluted nature of the water.
