Crete survey

Crete is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, about 200 miles (322 km) south of both Athens and Ephesus. Titus pastored a church in Crete and the letter to Paul’s disciple includes much practical instruction and an insult to Cretans in general (Titus 1:12). When he was being taken to Rome as prisoner, Paul urged the captain of his ship to harbor in Crete for the winter. The captain did not listen to Paul’s advice, and the ship was lost at sea. Paul and others aboard the vessel had to swim for their lives to Malta.
